"The 2010 IndieLisboa festival (April 22-May 2) will kick with Fantasia Lusitana by Portuguese director João Canijo.
Produced by Periferia Films, Canijo’s new film is a documentary about Lisbon during WWII, when the country’s capital became the frontier between Europe and the American continent for nearly 100,000 people escaping the Nazi regime.
Using archive images and refugee testimonies read by actors Hanna Schygulla, Rudiger Vogler and Christian Patey, the film tries to trace the legacy of those people and how their presence influenced the national perception of WWII." From Cineuropa
